I am commanded by the Air Council to refer to
Colonial Office letter of the 23rd June, 52753/28, relative
to the provision of technical advice in connection with the
lay-out of Kai Tak aerodrome.
In reply I am to acquaint you, for the information
of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, that Mr. J.A.
Dawson, the officer whom the Council have selected for the
proposed visit, will be authorised to agree provisionally to
a lay out of the site and to the disposal of land surplus to
requirements. They consider, however, that the provisional
agreement should be subject to their approval upon the
receipt of Mr. Dawson's report.
They agree that the cost of the visit shall be
defrayed from Air Votes and are making arrangements for Mr.
Dawson to leave this country during the first week of
September.
I am also to refer to the despatch No. 226 dated
The Under Secretary of State,
Colonial Office,
S.W.1.
